Aged care staffing crisis looms, warns Opposition ageing spokesman Shayne Neumann

news.com.au: TASMANIA has the nation’s highest proportion of older people and the Federal Government must immediately address the state’s growing demand for extra workers in the sector, Labor says.

Visiting Launceston today, Opposition spokesman on ageing Shayne Neumann said Tasmania would need an additional 5000 aged care workers over the next two decades.

He said the island state faced considerable challenges, including traditional difficulties attracting and retaining workers in the sector.

Labor was consulting with stakeholders while awaiting the Abbott Government’s aged care workforce strategy, Mr Neumann said.
