NDIS information hub opens

A new information hub designed to inform people about the National Disability Scheme (NDIS) was launched in Preston, Melbourne today.

Guide dogs Victoria and people with disabilities helped celebrate the opening of the Yooralla hub, situated at the corner of High and Bell streets.

The hub is designed to help people with disabilities, their family and carers understand and prepare for the NDIS rollout.

Yooralla executive director Russell Shewan, said that people with disability would enjoy more equitable access to support and services under the new model.

“This new funding model will ensure that people with disability finally get choice and control over how their support needs are met. This is the fair, equitable and right way forward for us as a society,” he said.

“We know that some people are feeling concerned about the change and we want to make sure everyone feels ready for the NDIS, so we’d like to invite the community to come and drop in to our information hub to find about the NDIS or attend one of our free information sessions.”

People with disability in north eastern parts of Melbourne will be the first to experience the NDIS.
