Securing the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) for future participants

April 18, 2016

This is a significant year for the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) as we begin to roll out the NDIS across Australia from 1 July 2016.

To ensure we are building a scheme that is sustainable and delivering positive outcomes for people with disability, we are in the process of gathering additional information about our current participants and their experience with the NDIS.

This information will help us understand participants’ individual circumstances and outcomes. It will provide us with important data on the functional impact of disability, the types of supports that lead to good outcomes and help us to identify areas that need development.

Current participants will be asked about how they are going in different areas of life, what their support needs are, as well as the types of services they receive.

Participant responses will help us to manage and deliver the NDIS to the thousands of new participants we will be welcoming in the coming months and years. It is important to note that responses will not change anyone’s current plan, but they may provide useful information ahead of the next plan review.

Participants can expect to hear from us via mail, email or phone over the coming weeks.

We are committed to listening to our participants, learning from their experience, and building and delivering the best scheme we can for all Australians.
