Hillgrove House focuses on environment

When Sapphire Coast Community Aged Care Group briefed architects for extensions to the Hillgrove House aged care facility in Bega they stressed the need for energy efficiency throughout - and that is what they are getting.

Paynter Dixon Constructions have been working with Architects Baldasso Cortese to address environmental aspects wherever possible in the new development.

All appliances and fittings either comply with or exceed the latest energy efficiency recommendations.

While no solar panels are proposed to be installed at this stage, space for their installation in further extensions has been allocated.

An underground 60,000litre tank has been installed to collect rain water for landscape irrigation to the grounds and courtyards.

All windows will be specially glazed for high performing, minimal energy usage and a fire sprinkler system will be installed for fire protection.

All the lighting will be energy-efficient using mainly LED fittings.

There will be access to wi-fi throughout the facility.

Stage Two of the works will include the existing building being restyled to create an internal “street” providing facilities such as a hairdressing salon, coffee shop and rooms for visiting medical and health ancillary providers such as podiatrists, masseurs and physiotherapists

Donations can be made at Hillgrove House or at Westpac Bega BSB 032 682, account 151 258. All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
