ATO holding Single Touch Payroll Employer Engagement

The ATO has announced an Employer Engagement Forum for Single Touch Payroll (Also known as STP or STPR). Remember if you have 20 or more employees it is mandatory to use Single Touch Payroll with each pay event (payroll run) from 1/7/2018. From 1/7/2019 it will be mandatory for all organisations. The forum is on 16/11/2017, register at https://www.ato.gov.au/Tax-professionals/Newsroom/Digital-interaction-with-us/Single-Touch-Payroll-live-stream/

As an employer with 20 or more employees you should take the following steps:

1. Talk to your payroll software provider to see how they are progressing on Single Touch Payroll, some haven't started work on this yet, it is far more complex than most software providers think. We are proud to say we expect to go live with our first user this month.

2. Book a time for training with your payroll software provider. June is too late as a lot of organisations will be doing this at the last minute. We are proud to say at Inerva we will be taking bookings for implementation and training from February 2018 and anticipate having all organisations running on Single Touch Payroll by May 2018 before that last minute rush and confusion in the June 2018 period. Remember organisations with 20 or more staff must use Single Touch Payroll in their first pay run on or after 1/7/2018, this means Single Touch Payroll must already be installed, configured, staff trained and registered with the ATO before this 1st pay run is completed.

3. Call me at Inerva Software if you have any questions. Guy Degoumois 1800 463782
