Single Touch Payroll simple for payroll officers

Inerva's implementation of Single Touch Payroll has embraced this new features name, Single Touch Payroll. Once a payrun has been saved,  other than the ATO required authorisation  screen, Single Touch Payroll reporting will be a click of a single button.  There are no other requirements for the payroll officer at the end of a payrun to send a STP transmission.

 

What do the software do behinds the scenes when an authorised staff member clicks on the Single Touch Payroll button:

1. ATO authorisation screen automatically appears

2. Once the authorisation screen is completed with a couple of clicks this generates the compliant STP file for transmission to the ATO

3. The STP file is then automatically sent to the ATO

4. System looks for a confirmation message from ATO to finalise the process

 

How simple is that

 

Single Touch Payroll is also known as STP or STPR and for businesses with 20 or more staff it is a mandatory requirement to be used from 1/7/2018 and for all businesses it is mandatory from 1/7/2019.  Note Single Touch Payroll port must be sent to the ATO on or before the staff are paid. This means organisations are highly advised to be using Single Touch Payroll 2 months or more before the legislated deadline. Don't get caught in the last minute rush.
