Jail for not paying Superannuation

Proposed new legislation Treasury Laws Amendment (Taxation and Superannuation Guarantee Integrity Measures) Bill 2018 are planned to have penalties of up to 12 months imprisonment, forced to attend training, forced to make superannuation payments and forced to disclose non payment to employees. The ATO will be able to monitor non payment of superannuation through Single Touch Payroll which is compulsory for organisation with 20 or more staff on or before 1/7/2018 and proposed for all organisations from 1/7/2019.
