Human trials for Alzheimer's disease treatment
The first human trials for the treatment and possible cure for Alzheimer's are about to start in Australia. In short the treatment uses ultrasound to dislodge the toxic plaque. Note the treatment will most likely be more effective the earlier it is used and that it might not help late onset Alzheimer's. Home Care mid year budget news - 10,000 places and changes to Fees & Subsidies
The Federal Government is expected to announce in Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) an extra 5,000 level 3 and 5,000 level 4 Home Care places. Plus changes to the maximum Daily Fees for levels 1, 2 & 3, also increases in Subsidy for Remote and Rural Consumers of Home Care Services. Keep an eye out for the announcements expected this week. Single Touch Payroll for small business
Legislation has been passed for Single Touch Payroll for businesses with 19 or less employees to commence reporting from 1/7/2019. Businesses with 20 or more employees are already required to report using Single Touch Payroll from 1/7/2018. Micro businesses with less than 4 employees appear to be able to report quarterly instead of at the end of each pay run through their registered tax agent. E-Invoicing and Small Business Payment Terms
E-Invoicing becomes more relevant as the Federal Government and State Governments plan to create regulations to pay small business within shorter time frames. Federal Government is looking at paying small businesses within 20 days and the NSW Government is looking at within 5 days. Some State Governments are also looking at automatically paying late payment interest to any invoice they pay late. The new E-Invoice standard that is currently being finalised for Australia and Ne
