NDIS participant phasing for people accessing accommodation and community high supports

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) will start rolling out in NSW from 1 July 2016. The rollout will start in Hunter New England, Southern New South Wales, Central Coast, Northern Sydney, South Western Sydney, Western Sydney and Nepean Blue Mountains service areas. The remainder of NSW will move to the NDIS from 1 July 2017. With so many people coming into the Scheme in a short time it is important that there is a planned approach to how people access the NDIS. People currently accessing accommodation and community high supports from the NSW Government will enter the Scheme first – between July and September 2016. In the coming week, Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC) will write to people accessing accommodation and community high supports to inform them of how and when they will access the Scheme. We’ve included a copy of this letter for your information. Also attached is a service provider factsheet that explains the participant pathway to the NDIS for people accessing accommodation and community high supports and what providers can do to assist people to move to the Scheme. You can help support your clients by making yourself familiar with the participant pathway and by ensuring your clients’ information is up to date. You can also help by making sure you print, share and direct your clients to other available resources on the NDIS NSW websitewww.ndis.nsw.gov.au to assist with preparation for the NDIS. More information about the NDIS including eligibility and access requirements can be found on the national NDIS website www.ndis.gov.au or by calling the NDIA on 1800 800 110. Regards Samantha Taylor Executive Director NDIS Implementation
