Aveo to start work on the first stage of its $1 billion intergenerational retirement village at Spri
CONSTRUCTION will start on Australia's largest fully integrated seniors village which promises to be a retirement community with a difference.

commenced work today on the $1 billion development in greater Springfield.
The 15- to 20-year development will have 2500 dwellings and a range of inclusive community, campus-style facilities.

Aveo Group CEO Geoff Grady said while Aveo Springfield is designed to cater for the long-term needs of retirees it will also be an intergenerational precinct.
“This is a community not just where retired people live but which incorporates services which all of the community can use,” he said.
“We aim to have a childcare centre, a wellness centre, tertiary training facilities, retail, cafes, parks and more.
“People will come here typically in their mid 70s and have all of their care needs catered for through to the end of life. But they also want to stay connected with wider community.”
Located in Springfield Central’s Health City and adjacent to the Mater Private Hospital, Aveo Springfield will offer an array of living options including independent living units, medium care healthy living units, dementia-friendly aged care, and respite facilities.
The shared facilities will be clustered around a main street with apartment buildings up to six storeys while those beyond and up the slope will be 10 storeys plus.
“Research has proven that intergenerational interaction has benefits to both the young and elderly,” Mr Grady said.
The first 66 apartments are planned for completion in mid-2017.
