Guiding you through your choices in aged care

Aged care information portal www.AgedCareGuide.com.au is relaunched

Innovative DPS Publishing has rebuilt the leading online aged care directory, www.AgedCareGuide.com.au, so that it is a complete library of useful, independent information aimed at informing and educating users about their aged care choices.

A key feature includes the unique, dynamic mapping capability which quickly shows users all the aged care service providers in the area within the search criteria. The map can be enlarged to widen the search area or can be reduced to pinpoint a small area. Service provider details in the area are listed on the left hand side, as well as popping up when users click on the map marker.

All Commonwealth funded residential aged care facilities and community packages and programs in Australia are listed on the relaunched mobile-friendly website as well as a comprehensive directory of retirement villages. Enhanced search capabilities include a number of filters to ensure users not only find a facility or service provider specific to their needs, but they can quickly see whether there is a vacancy.

“Australia’s aged care industry is in exciting times and facing new challenges; we have an ageing population and over the past few years, we have seen changes in legislation and expectations,” explains DPS Publishing Chief Executive David Baker. “With the introduction of Consumer Directed Care people have increased independence and choice over the services they receive. However knowing what support is available, how to access aged care services and even the process of moving into a nursing home or serviced apartment can be confusing. Furthermore, adding to a person’s stress, quite often decisions are having to be made at a very emotional time.”

“What we are offering is a complete resource to help people make choices and understand how the process works. Our clearly presented information ranges from explaining how to initiate an assessment by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) and how to apply for respite care to what to look for when making a Will and aged care terms and definitions explained,” says Mr Baker.

“Our aim is to produce relevant and informative resources of the highest quality for those with a personal or professional interest in aged care,” he continues. “We also have a news and jobs section on the website and our free-to-join membership includes being able to apply to multiple aged care facilities with one form.”

Australia’s leading aged care publisher doesn’t stop there.

“We constantly review and enhance the way we deliver information to all consumers,” Mr Baker adds. “We’ll continue to look at innovative ways to convey the latest aged care and community care developments to our users, and incorporate these in the future.”

DPS Publishing’s rigorous processes ensure only applicable and current information is included for those looking at seniors living and it prides itself on the accuracy and validity of all data produced for its publications and website.

DPS Publishing also offers the DPS Guide to Aged Care in a hard copy format, together with a variety of aged care aids. These can be purchased from www.dpsshop.com.au or by calling 1300 186 688.
