Future Directions in Aged Care with Dr Stephen Judd, Chief Executive, HammondCare
NEWSROOM had a conversation about future directions in aged care with Dr Stephen Judd, Chief Executive, HammondCare during the Grand Designs “Are we there yet?” 2016 International Dementia Conference, Sydney Australia.
“I think it is actually a good thing if we de-regulate, from the point of view of availability of supply for aged care. We are doing it as far as Home Care is concerned from February 2017 and I think fundamentally that is a good thing. It will drive quality for home care. The next step is making it possible for residential aged care to have un-capped supply of availability. It is really important to understand that we can have quality indicators, we can have standards that regulate compliance and we can look at clinical outcomes for example, but if there is only so many places where we can get the care that we need, then that is always going to restrict the improvement in quality and innovation.”
