Faulty electric blanket blamed for house fire in Stirling

A faulty electric blanket is believed to have started a fire that caused about $30,000 to a bedroom in Stirling on Friday night.

ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue were called to Loton Place about 8.30pm.

"Quick work from firefighters saw damage contained to the bedroom of the home and intensive-care paramedics treated two people at the scene for smoke inhalation," the ACT Emergency Services Agency said in a statement.

"Neither was transported to hospital and residents have been allowed to return to the house."
