Sydney woman has lived in same home 90 years after moving in 1927

May Bartlett has lived in the same Sydney home for 90 years, almost her entire life.

Now the time has come for Ms Bartlett to sell her cottage, but while she’s moving on her memories remain.

Her memories go as far back as the day she moved into the Rozelle home on Callan Street.

It's a little humble home that, if the walls could talk, would have quite a long story to tell.

Ms Bartlett moved into the home with her family in 1927, when she was only seven years old.

“We had no street when I moved there in '27, we only had rubble,” she told 7 News.

“I still have the scars on my knees from falling on that rubble.”

The family paid 430 pounds for the home, it's now expected to sell for $1.2 million.

Ms Bartlett grew up and never left, raising her own family and growing old in the home.

She’s spent 90 years at the home, watching the suburb grow and change.

A few months ago Ms Bartlett made the tough choice to leave her only home and go into full time care.

Her family has agreed to put it on the market.

Her grandparents purchased the property 90 years ago for £430, a sizable sum in those days.

When it goes to auction next week it is expected to fetch $1.2 million.

“I hope it's a young couple, there's two lovely bedrooms for children,” Ms Bartlett said.
