Oakden recommendations - classify dementia as a health service
The Oakden inquiry has recommended Dementia and Mental Health be treated as a Medical Service rather than an Aged Care Service. It is really confusing was Oakden a Mental Health Hospital with a dual Aged Care License or an Aged Care Facility specialising in Dementia and Mental health??? I'm not sure if the reporters and politicians got it wrong calling the "residents" of Oakden "patience" or if that is how they were treated.
This inquiry could have wide ramifications for the whole Aged Care Industry.
